As It Was Then, Is Now, and Will Be Again
By Bill Rudge
As it was then –– during Old Testament times the surrounding nations wanted to annihilate Israel. Psalm 83:1-5 gives a glimpse of what Israel faced in ancient times ––
O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how Your enemies are astir, how Your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against Your people; they plot against those You cherish. "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more." With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against You.
So it is now –– as we consider the present Middle East crisis and the many pronouncements for the destruction of Israel.
And will be once again –– at Armageddon when the combined nations of the Earth have intentions of eradicating Israel. The world's armies will surround Israel and Jerusalem for the double purpose of cutting off Israel from being a nation and making war against the Lord at His Second Coming (Revelation 19:19). It will be a feeble and useless attempt to prevent the Lord from rescuing Israel and establishing His Millennial kingdom.
