Run for Haiti

Tabitha Rudge Smith, who has been to Haiti several times, coordinated a “Run for Haiti” at the Pittsburgh Marathon. She was joined by Julie Bleakney and Troy Snyder. Over $6,000 was raised. Because of the extensive work Bill Rudge Ministries and its mission teams have done during five trips to Haiti, BRM also acted as a referral service for people across the nation interested in helping Haiti, but unsure of how to do it.

Julie’s daughter Ava saved all the money from her birthday and wanted to do something special with it. She chose to give it to Bill Rudge Ministries for Haiti.

Two of many encouraging notes Tabitha received at the ministry were:

May the Lord give you wings like eagles as you run for Haiti!!
Love, D.T., California

I was thinking about you running and praying all was going well. I would love to run an event when I get my miles back up.
God Bless, K.D., Ohio

Tabitha, who has run three marathons in the past two years (and qualified for the Boston Marathon) injured her knee and limped the last nine miles of the Pittsburgh Marathon. But the Lord turned it into a great blessing (and a witness opportunity through the “Run for Haiti” shirts) as the people lining the street cheered her on. Many said, “Go girl. You are running for a good cause.” Thanks for all your prayers and support. God was faithful and may you be blessed for helping us minister to the impoverished people of Haiti.

 Run for Haiti Participants
Tabitha Smith, Troy Snyder, and Julie Bleakney wear their “Run for Haiti” T-shirts before competing in the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 2nd to benefit the people of Haiti. The front of the shirt was designed by Bill Reese and the more extensive design on the back was designed by Valley Silk Screening, who also printed the designs on the shirts.
